A VHS tape allegedly captured in a raid in Afghanistan was released perporting to be a confession tape, showing a fat, very swarthy “Bin Laden” conversing with other men in Arab dress and making statements that would implicate him in the attack. There are a number of issues with this tape. This Bin Laden is right-handed. Osama is a lefty. He wears a gold ring and wristwatch - forbidden in Islam. His facial features show a much darker complexion, broader and shorter nose, and he himself is heavy, whereas Osama, suffering from kidney disease, was gaunt and sickly in his previous appearances. Osama is relatively light-skinned. Evidently the FBI did not buy the “confession” tape, since Osama’s wanted poster charges do not include anything related to 9/11, according to an FBI spokesperson due to lack of evidence. Other statements by Osama immediately after the attacks disavow the attacks.

I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children, and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden, even in the course of a battle.”
